Here is what you will need to sort out when you move into one of our units in Wilton or Milford, in roughly the order you will need it.

Set up your utilities

Electricity. Contact your electric utility before your move-in date rather than on it. Same-day connection is not guaranteed.

Heating fuel. Most of our units are heated by oil or propane. We will tell you which supplier services your building and whether the account transfers to you or stays with us. This varies by unit, so ask us directly.

Internet. Availability differs street by street in this area. Check your specific address with the providers before you assume a plan is available.

Town business

Trash and recycling. Wilton and Milford handle this differently from each other, and both differ from what you are used to if you are moving from a city. Check your town public works page for pickup days and whether a transfer station sticker is required.

Vehicle registration. In New Hampshire you register your vehicle through your town clerk, not the DMV, and you will need proof of residency. Your lease works for this.

Voter registration. Register with your town clerk. New Hampshire allows same-day registration, but doing it ahead of time is less painful.

Schools. Wilton and Lyndeborough share the Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative School District. Milford has its own district. If you have school-age children, confirm the assignment for your specific address before you sign.

Moving and storage

Mi-Box Central & Western New Hampshire offers portable storage containers serving this area, which helps when your move-out and move-in dates do not line up.

Before you move in with us

We will walk the unit with you and document its condition together before you take possession. Take your own photos as well. It protects both of us at move-out, and it means there is nothing to argue about later.
